our crew

the disney fantasy was practically identical to the last ship we sailed on, the disney dream. got up early to shoot some photos of the ship
sunrise from the top deck

the main deck

entrance to the aquaduck slide that circles the entire ship

margaritas with my sis on the pool deck

aqua lab

mini golf

sunset from one of the outdoor bars

the main atrium, hard to take a bad pic in here its beautiful

our cabin. we were able to get a cheaper room this time, an interior room with no balcony. it did have a virtual window though, which had a live view of the outside of the ship. what was cool about this is periodically there would be animated characters superimposed over the live view, so we would see tinkerbell fly by, etc. more on this later...

the huge kids club had tons of stuff to keep the kids busy

pixie hollow

toy story

monsters inc

area for crafts and classes

more crafts

computer games

design studio

movies

the sailing away party is always fun

relaxing in a port hole

plenty of characters around for photo ops

princess meet n greet

our crazy little princess at dinner

pirate day, people really go all out with the costumes

mickeys pirates in the carribean show

our first port day in cozumel, mexico

dune buggy tour, and i use the term dune buggy loosely... these things were more like rental cars with no roof! not what i expected, i thought we would be off-roading in real dune buggys!

first stop on our dune buggy tour was playa san martin

next stop, a traditional mayan village

nanci and me with a couple of the performers

the final part of the tour, and my favorite... tequila tasting! i love tequila, but i had no idea how good it could be until trying some in mexico. cant get this authentic stuff in the states, so we brought 2 bottles home. whos coming over to try some???

the tasting table

our second port day was grand cayman, where we visited a turtle farm and swam with dolphins!

turtles are a delicacy in grand cayman

the kids up close with the turtles, ava would not go near these things!

we all swam with the dolphins, even my mom... but we only got pics of the kids because they charge you A GRIP for a print! i guess thats how they make most of their money, they know people are going to want photos =/
aiden got the mom and baby in his photo. i specifically chose this photo though because i was in it too... but when they printed it they CROPPED ME OUT! bastards!!! well... those are my arms holding aiden

pro-tip - get CLOSE to your kid for pics... theyd need some serious photoshop skills to get nancis cheesy mug out of this shot

formal dinner night

by far the coolest restaurant is animators palette. there are huge screens everywhere where animated characters from finding nemo interact LIVE with the guests. for example, crush, the turtle from finding nemo, will be at our screen talking to us about california... then hell swim off our screen and into the screen of the table across from us, who were also from california, to let them know that we were also from california, and that we should make friends, etc. its seriously amazing. and not only that, one night for dinner there, they gave all of the guests these special placemats where we all had to design our own cartoon characters. they then collected all of our drawings, ran them through some machine... and at the end of dinner, they presented this musical cartoon on the screens, and all of the characters we made were performing in the cartoon! seeing our drawings come to life was way cool! disney man....

special placemat where we drew our characters

a short clip of what the final production looked like
the star wars day at sea was definitely the highlight of the trip... seriously SO COOL! if your kids are star wars fans, put this cruise on your bucket list! there was definitely no shortage of star wars on the ship this day!
bb8 sippers

tie fighter popcorn holders

han solo in carbonite popcorn holder

boba fet margarita cup

pretty much everyone on the ship was in costume
aiden and ava

nolan

even mamma winnie!

ava and nanci

ava was the smallest rey on the ship

they even brought her on stage at the costume party

all of the kids at the costume party, check out the tie fighter wheelchair in front! i dont know how they got this thing on the boat???

light saber battles literally everywhere you looked, it was hard walking around without getting smacked accidentally!

the kids got to meet tons of star wars characters

cool star wars name tags

jedi training

after which they get a chance to face off with darth vader himself

all of the dinners on the cruise were top notch, but on star wars day at sea it was particularly awesome!
just look at the cool menus

all of the dish names were star wars themed, and you cant tell but the menu graphics are 3D

ribeye and lobster!

equally cool dessert menu

cant have a star wars day without a star wars watermelon

the night ended with a star wars deck party

kids danced and battled each other til they passed out

so that virtual window in our rooms that i mentioned earlier, on star wars day they had the death star superimposed on our window, and periodically cool little star wars animations would appear. credit to dom for staring at this thing for a couple hours waiting to get a video... strong work sister!
disney did not disappoint on its inaugural star wars day at sea, if you ever get a chance you have to go! whats funny is i liked star wars when i was a kid, but wasnt crazy about it. i actually like it more now as an adult than i did when i was a kid, and this cruise definitely contributed to that!
off to our last port, disneys private island castaway cay. on the way our ship spotted a small capsized boat with 3 people stranded on top. this pic sucks but you can see our life boat rescue them

passengers watching the drama unfold

they were most likely refugees from cuba. later that day the coast guard came and picked them up. so crazy they got spotted in such a vast ocean!
finally arrived at castaway cay. spotted jack sparrow on the way out

view of the fantasy from castaway cay

first excursion was a glass bottom boat tour

this was actually one of the best glass bottom boat tours ive been on, we got to see so many fish

and got to feed them
awesome jet ski tour... well me nanci and nels loved it. ask dom how she liked it lol

and finally, some relaxation time.

i probably relaxed a whole 15min here, which may not sound like much but this entire 7 day cruise had been non stop activity. there is SO much to do, and when i pay this much for something you best believe... IM DOING IT ALL! it was seriously exhausting, but so much fun! disney does a great job with these cruises, but let me tell you they come with a hefty price tag! we definitely cant be doing these every year, but hope to go again sometime in the near future!
below are photos from a photo book we had made on the ship. buying individual prints is really expensive, so this photo book is the best bang for your buck.

thats all folks, may the force be with you!
