San Francisco!

its been a long time, weve been way overdue for a trip to the bay area! since we have been there so many times before, it was nice this time not needing to do so much, we just relaxed and hung out with family and friends!

so we decided not to rent a car or bring a carseat, and get around only on public transit. i got a tip from my friend ernesto that we would really need some travel backpacks so we have both hands free to carry the baby/stroller/diaper bag/etc on and off of the trains and buses. it was a definite must, felt like we were backpacking through europe though!

aiden had a good time on the buses. but it got scary a few times when they got so crowded, we were lucky most of the buses cleared out before our stops otherwise i dont know how we would have gotten off with all our crap!

first stop was pier 39, where we met my cousins jill kevin david and carol, and my two adorable nieces kaitlen and kaitlyn.

kaitlen was was excited to see aiden, gave him a big hug when we got there!

went for a ride on the merry go round and walked around the pier

california academy of sciences, we were also to cheap to pay for this one. it was $30 each, we felt like if we paid that we should spend most of the day there to see all the exhibits, so we opted not to... maybe next time

IMG_1867 copy

we did pay to go inside of the japanese tea gardens...

had dinner that night with more la transplants, eva and phuc. again no pics, whoops!

the next morning i woke up super early and jumped on a bus to fort point to get a sunrise picture of the golden gate bridge.

IMG_2328 copy

man... havent seen a sunrise in a while!

at the fence next to the fort, there was even a hole cut out for a camera lens

theres a running trail leading to the fort, and whenever people get to the farthest point, they touch these hand prints. if you run with a dog, there are even little paw prints for your dog to touch

met back at the hotel with nanci and aiden, and we headed into downtown for a little shopping and to see the tree and skating rink at union square

last day there we took the bart to berkeley to meet my high school friend joan, her husband jim, and their brand new baby boy enzo. We ate brunch, walked around, then took bart straight to the airport to go home. we had a great trip. it was definitely tough taking public transportation the whole way, we couldnt even take cabs because we didnt want to lug a carseat around... although we heard people take babies on cabs without a carseat but ive been in crazy sf cabs before... no way! the backpacks were a definite must, it was good practice because this coming year we plan on taking an international trip with aiden!
