Spring Break in Vancouver

the barrera fam headed up to vancouver this spring break. driven through a handful of times to get to whistler but never stayed here. really nice place! a few snaps from the places we visited..

the city itself was very clean, modern, and felt very safe. very multicultural, although it seemed like most people were asian... had no idea! lots of glass in their architecture, most of the apartment buildings and high rises had completely glass exteriors

stanley park. who knew vancouver was so awesome in the spring! the cherry blossom trees were blooming everywhere, they looked unreal. reminded us of japan













pretty much followed the yelp reviews to find the good spots to eat at. delicious breakfast at medinas cafe.









vancouver aquarium, cant go wrong with an aquarium when you have kids













steamworks brewery. i read a lot about the brewery scene in vancouver... cant say i was too impressed though... esp compared to san diego and portland.



gastown is a historic district in vancouver, with one of the last remaining steam powered clocks



grainville island public market. this place is gigantic, mostly food vendors so we barely scratched the surface. you can only eat so much in a single visit

























grainville island has an entire portion just for kids, spent a long time at this place the kids loved it

grainville island brewing company. again, good but not great. there were other breweries that had good reviews but we actually stopped going to them after this one





blue water cafe in yaletown was supposed to be the best seafood in vancouver. it was awesome, but at a four $$$$ rating it wasnt cheap! this is just one of the handful of dishes we got, we definitely didnt want to come here starving or wed go broke!

back at stanley park for the insanely crowded easter celebration











the flying pig, probably my favorite meal of the trip. not only was the food great, but the service was outstanding. pulled pork poutine and 18oz ribeye





last stop of the trip was science world, a must if you have kids. they could have spent every day of our trip here. nothing too picturesque inside, but the outside looks really cool!



this was a nice quick getaway since we only had a week for spring break. we really enjoyed our stay, although 7 days here felt slightly long we were running out of stuff to do! but its a beautiful city, next time i go to whistler i definitely want to hang out here again for a couple days. thanks vancouver!
