setting up camp

i have no idea how to camp. i literally came with a sleeping bag, a tent i bought that same day, and beer. luckily my cousin samo, svens brother, came prepared with all of the essentials. the majority of our weekend consisted of eating and drinking. i love camping!
bacon and eggs, bacon and sausage scramble, bacon wrapped hot dogs, bacon guacamole burgers, can never have too much bacon

delicious french press coffee

beer

samo, sven, and i grew up playing with radio controlled models... and never quite outgrew it. there was definitely no shortage of R/C's on this trip. we had tiny drones

medium drones. this drone has an onboard camera that transmits a video feed to some goggles, allowing the pilot to fly as if he is sitting in the cockpit. pretty awesome!

he setup this extra monitor so we could watch the video feed. here is him flying around our campsite

and the big drone... the dji inspire 1. this thing is amazing!

a shot of our campsite taken with the inspire

another shot high above the angeles national forest

drone selfie! sven is controlling the drone, and i also have a controller that operates the onboard camera. so cool!!!

sven also brought this monster 1/5th scale buggy thats powered by a 2-stroke engine

sven has taken this hobby to another level with his company aerial gp, check him out here:

we also did a short hike along a portion of the pacific crest trail... which starts in mexico and goes all the way up to canada!

you can tell ryan is a true outdoorsman.

he knew if he got lost that rescue teams could spot these laces from miles away.

samo and ryan being one with nature

we played a whoooole lot of jenga. note to self: bring more games next trip

chopping firewood for our last nights campfire

drank beers and watched the sunset over the san gabriel mountains

all in all, a pretty awesome weekend. congrats cousin, looking forward to welcoming lisa to the family! two weeks til the big day in VEGAS!!!
